Wedding photos in the public bar at the Prince, St Kilda Melbourne

Some of you may have missed this when I posted it earlier in the year so here are the ‘highlights’ from Kelly & Nicole’s wedding photos.

They were married in the lovely surrounds of Circa restaurant above the Prince public bar in St Kilda, but wanted to get a bit grungey and have a few shots downstairs.

Being a Sunday afternoon one of Melbourne’s sweaty rockers was banging out a few rock classics and chose to finish his set screaming into the mic on a bench outside of the pub with the bride on his arm!
With the marriage only an hour old, Nicole’s husband Kelly didn’t have a chance to save her as the sweaty hairy rocker pashed his wife!
No need for an encore!

Tips on how to find the perfect wedding dress for your Melbourne wedding

There are some pretty important decisions to be made when planning your wedding, and once you’ve booked Wedding Snapper as your photographer, finding that perfect wedding dress is one of them!

Luckily for you dear reader, one of Melbourne’s top wedding dress boutiques Ava Madison has offered some tips on how to secure the perfect wedding gown and bridesmaids dresses without, whilst keeping it all affordable.

-It’s important to have chosen your own gown and the venue prior to sourcing dresses for your maids as this will often guide you when making choices pertaining to style and colour.

-Many brides are time poor so arrange to have all of your bridesmaids present
when you have narrowed down your search for bridesmaid dresses.
-Bring undergarments that are specific to the day when getting measured as
this may alter the final measurements.

-Don’t leave shoes too late! Winter stock hits the stores in February.

-Request the Ava Madison shoe database to assist you with your search for
evening shoes.
-There are no clear rules on what bridesmaids should and should not wear. You
can opt for different styles in the same colour or vice versa.

-Sometime too many choices can be confusing, choose a style/s first and then
select colour.
-Bring in a picture of your dress and a swatch of fabric if possible.

-Ensure you are well informed for e.g satin describes the finish on a fabric
and does not mean you are purchasing a silk garment different suppliers use
different fabrics and do not be afraid to ask if it’s silk satin that you are
purchasing.

-Enjoy the experience as the journey to the most perfect day is sometimes just
as important.

Money saving tips when planning your Melbourne or Yarra Valley wedding

We all know that planning a Melbourne or Yarra Valley wedding can be an expensive experience so here are a few pointers on how to make it more affordable:

Try to use a wedding cake supplier close to your venue to avoid a large delivery fee.

To save money, keep the design simple and choose square or round cakes; the more unusual the shape, the higher the price is likely to be.

Get married on a weekday. Most wedding photographers work Saturdays and Sundays so ask one to give you a great deal for a Wednesday or Thursday wedding and he or she will jump at the chance.  After all, they’re only going to be drinking coffee and playing Angry Birds otherwise!

Make your Melbourne or Yarra Valley wedding photography affordable by selecting a CD or DVD of high resolution photos for you to print at your leisure. It may cost a little more up front, but you’ll save a fortune in print costs!

This way, you can also design a wedding album once you have saved up some more money – there are plenty of online retailers who will help you do this.

Email your ‘Save the Dates’ instead of posting (to save on printing and postage).

Use your own/borrow a friend’s nice car instead of hiring a car for transport.

Have a buffet meal instead of a served three course dinner.

Ask the videographer to record only the ceremony – not both the ceremony and reception.

The photographer doesn’t have to stay through the reception either  – family can take the fun snaps for you.

Ensure the photographer takes a ‘mock cut’ of the cake photo then send him home!

As always, we’re happy to hear your suggestions for ways to save money when planning your wedding in Melbourne, Dandenong Ranges or the Yarra Valley.
