From Willy to the Langham

Jacinda & Ben made the best use of Melbourne’s natural features by transporting their guests by boat on their wedding day in March this year.

Following their friendly ceremony at St Mary’s Catholic Church in Williamstown, (and following one of the most bizarre closing speeches by a priest I have ever heard!) Jacinda, Ben and their guests boarded a cruiser outside Pelican’s Landing for a lazy cruise up the Yarra to the Langham Hotel for photos and the reception.

One of their young page boys will remember the day for the rest of his life. Not because he was part of the wedding party, but because one of his teeth fell out and he scored $10 from Grandad!

The groom, Ben, will remember the day for the rest of his life too. And not just for the important soccer match that was being played!

Beer Powered Wedding Nudity. Well, almost nude.

Guests at a wedding can be a little unpredictable at times. More often than not, in a good way.  Well, a way that gives me a chuckle at least!

Jacqui & Lee’s wedding ceremony at the elegant Melbourne Town Hall with a reception following at The Pumphouse Conservatory in Fitzroy seemed straight forward enough.

There weren’t any obvious candidates for smutty joke telling at the bar, no cheeky cousins giving one of the oldies bunny ears in the group photos and definitely nobody that looked like they wanted to pop something erm, ‘special’ in the couple’s wedding photos.

And thats where Steve flew under the radar and surprised me with his almost-nude request.  Being an obliging fellow I duly snapped a few frames that Jacqui and Lee will no doubt, have on display in their home. Possibly in a heart shaped frame. Possibly not.

As to the random chaps he posed with outside the pub.  Well, I have no idea what they made of it, but if they’re reading this and would like a print for their own heart shaped frames then just drop me a line.

Oh, Bollocks!

OK, so the bride has just reached the altar with her Father, who has shaken the groom’s hand, kissed his daughter and is now walking away, confident that he has fulfilled his parental duties brilliantly.

Which he has, until….. he accidentally steps on the bride’s veil tearing it from her head.

I can almost hear the swearing from his internal monologue.  Trust me, it was some of the foulest language I’ve (never actually) heard in a church!

Now, for some brides this would be an absolute disaster, but not Jess.  Jess throws her head back and laughs.  Dad isn’t laughing quite so hard at this point!

It’s funny, but for me this photo of Michael & Jess perfectly typifies my kind of customer.  Sure, they all want their wedding day to run smoothly but sometimes things do go a little awry and they’re calm about it, and I for one appreciate that!

This photo is also a great example of how sometimes a not-quite-perfect picture is worth keeping.  It captures a moment and although technically it’s a bit ropey, you can see past that because the content is so engaging.

Hotel Windsor

More often than not, I’m using the Hotel Windsor as a backdrop to a photo, but Lloyd & Bessma’s recent lunchtime wedding gave me an excuse to get inside this great old building and get acquainted with some rather delicious looking cakes!

Simon Woodcock of the Wedding Snapper cake department is pleased to report back that the cakes are indeed as delicious as they look, and if you’re thinking of holding your wedding reception at the Hotel Windsor he’d be happy to be paid in cake should you book him for your wedding photos.
