Wedding Photography Locations

I have loosely grouped the suggestions for locations into their general areas, but it’s worth skimming the whole page as the boundaries are a bit general sometimes!

Melbourne CBD

If you’re getting married at the Melbourne Registry in the Old Treasury building then the nearby Treasury Gardens might come in useful.  Useful for family photos following a ceremony, after which you can then shake off the crowds by moving onto Fitzroy Gardens.

Fitzroy Gardens has plenty of lush greenery and is watered daily so looks vibrant and fresh all through the year. as well as greenery it has a small rotunda that is sometimes useful for wedding photos and to add another look to the set of wedding photos.  The Glasshouse within the gardens is a lovely building but you will need a permit to take wedding photos in there unfortunately.  I guess it would be a little too popular with photographers and couples alike otherwise.

East Melbourne/Richmond

Burnley Gardens

North Melbourne

Queens Park in Moonee Ponds is a handy location for post ceremony wedding photos with a bridal party, or even family photos if the ceremony is at the nearby St Monica’s Catholic Church which doesn’t have a particular good outdoor area suitable for group or family photos.

Wet weather wedding photography locations can be a little problematic and are a bit of a test for photographers, but there are plenty of options open to you.  I make a few suggestions of undercover wedding photography locations in Melbourne in another post but it can often depend on which area the ceremony/reception is being held.

If you’ve already done some research and still aren’t coming up with anything then please feel free to drop me a line with a few details and I’ll endeavour to make some suitable suggestions.
