I rarely want to hear about celebrity weddings as they’re more of a circus than a wedding, with all the magazine tie-ins, sponsorship deals and TV crews so it was a refreshing change to hear about Michael Clarke’s marriage to Kyly Boldy.

They seem to be one of the few high profile couples to retain their credibility and not chase the dollar! Congratulations!

I always love getting feedback from couples. I really appreciate the time people take to do it for me – I’m sure there are hundreds more interesting things that they could be doing instead! So, a big thanks to Gill and Ross for the review they left for me following their wedding at Sticks winery in the Yarra Valley – it’s very much appreciated, and I’m glad you like the photos.

After meeting with Simon, we didn’t have to think twice about booking him for our wedding. His relaxed, professional style was exactly what we were looking for & he was an absolute pleasure to work with. He listened to what we wanted from our photographs & was was more than happy to accommodate any ideas we put forward.
As neither of us particularly enjoy having our picture taken we were not looking forward to that part of the day but Simon made it so easy & painless it became fun! Apart from the group shots we’d requested, he was so discreet we weren’t even aware of him being there, especially during the ceremony. But having seen the results, he was definitely in amongst it all, capturing us, our guests & the setting perfectly. We now have an amazing collection of captured moments to remind us of the fantastic day we had. The only complaint is how hard it’s going to be to deciding which ones to include in an album!

I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending Simon to anyone looking for a photographer – his work is fantastic, our guests all loved him & the praise for his photos just keeps on coming in from our family & friends. What more could you want?

We wedding photographers love Etsy – it’s such a great place to pick up new art, inspiration and everything else in between! It’s convenient too – we don’t even need to remove ourselves from the sofa/pub/bath/bed to do our browsing and shopping.

So, you can imagine our excitement when we heard about the new Etsy Weddings! Get yourself a piece of the action over at Etsy.com/weddings – it’s the only place us Melbourne wedding photographers can be found during the winter months! If only they served hot chocolate too…

No, thats not how many weddings we photograph in a year, but the average number of weddings conducted in Australia during October.

Detailed new research published by McCrindle Research shows that

Australia sees an average of 332 weddings per day, with this figure rising to an average of 577 in October, the busiest month of the year, and down to 190 in June, the quietest month of the year.

Wedding venues and fine dining in the Yarra Valley!

If you’re in the the Yarra Valley this weekend researching wedding photographers or venues, there is a brand new new food and wine festival, which would be the perfect way to explore the area and sample some of the fabulous wedding venues and fine dining on offer in the region.

The festival opens on Thursday April 26, 2012 with a Degustation Dinner at Stones of the Yarra Valley where diners can enjoy a five course degustation dinner in the historic Barn Restaurant. Using the region’s freshest seasonal produce, this is a collaboration between some of the Yarra Valley’s finest chefs.

Saturday has a multitude of events at venues across the valley, including DeBortoli’s – check the website for full details.

The festival will end on Sunday April 29, 2012 with a Garden Party at the Healesville Racecourse. Here you’ll be able to sip local artisan beers and ales, sample local Yarra Valley cheese, celebrate award winning wines and take home fresh local produce – all to the sounds of a host of talented local musicians!

Fiona & Jeremiah celebrated their wedding in Lorne earlier in the year. Going to the beach is always a tough part of the job, but I bravely volunteered and here is what they had to say about it:

Simon is truly an outstanding photographer and I highly recommend him to others. From the initial meeting to the wedding day, Simon was always approachable, friendly, professional and willing to answer any question or help out in any way. He is an amazing photographer but is also very humble and doesn’t take himself too seriously. This was crucial in helping us feel relaxed and comfortable and ensuring that the photos were candid and natural. The photos were perfect and the dvd presentation beautiful. It was an absolute pleasure to have Simon at our wedding.

Rich is entering the London Marathon to help others with leukaemia

I know this is a little off-topic but one of the nicest blokes on the planet, my mate Rich is entering the London Marathon in 15 days time to raise funds for the Anthony Nolan Trust.

No so long ago, Rich was diagnosed with leukaemia and it was the Anthony Nolan Trust that saved Rich’s life when they matched him to a stem cell donor.

Now he’d like to show his gratitude and try to help others too – please donate whatever you can to this worthy cause.
