Weddings at The Epicurean, Red Hill, Mornington Peninsula

The Epicurean, Red Hill is nestled in the rustic surrounds of the hinterland and winery region of Red Hill, popular as a relaxed gourmet destination on the Mornington Peninsula.

About The Epicurean, Red Hill

It was back in 1892 when Red Hill was first settled, known by the name Bald Hill by then because of the wild kangaroos and bullocks that grazed and roamed the span of the rich fertile hills. Located right in the heart of the Mornington Peninsula with scenic views out to the west and north, where you can see Port Phillip Bay, with Western Port Bay on the south eastern side.

A fire destroyed The Red Hill Cool Store in 1929 but a larger one soon replaced it. In 1927, the construction of a parking shed started. The Epicurean Red Hill is basically a rebuild of the historic cool store of Red Hill and is now the perfect multifunction venue complete with private dining areas where you can celebrate your special occasions.

The Design

The interior of The Epicurean Red Hill features a stunning 9-meter atrium style roof which is framed by large historic timber columns that came from the old Woolloomooloo wharf.

The Shed is the cucina style restaurant that offers an Italian-inspired menu. They feature the traditional wood fire pizza and their relaxed dining atmosphere captures everything Italy, from the three large open fireplaces made from rock sourced from the local area to Carrara marble bars.

Popular Wedding Options

  • The Barrel Room

As the name suggests, The Barrel Room serves as the home to wine barrels from the local wineries of Mornington Peninsula. The black interior of The Barrel Room is lined with copper metal pendant lights and rich oak wine barrels. The Barrel Room has maintained the industrial heritage of the building, making it a rather impressive space that they share with their resident neon duck. The Barrel Room with its maximum capacity of 120 has everything you need for a medium sized wedding, without the room either feeling too large or too cramped.

  • The Private Dining Room

The Epicurean’s Private Dining Room is decked out in floor to ceiling Spanish linen draping, oak timber floors, and seed bag pendant lights that will perfectly suit the space perfectly. This particular room looks out onto bushland, and the setting is a real reflection of the beauty of Red Hill, complimented by the equally impressive space. It has a maximum capacity of 40, but a part of 20 would still feel comfortable in the space.

  • The Loft

The freshly renovated loft space at The Epicurean features impressive industrial exposed beams with an exclusive usage of The Deck that overlooks the Red Hill Hinterlands. It has enough room for up to 45 guests.

The Epicurean Group’s events team are very approachable and are able to offer suggestions on the best format for each event space to help you create the most unforgettable wedding experience for both you and your guests. Whether you are planning an intimate gathering or a large scale affair, The Epicurean Red Hill can provide an elegant and fully customized wedding package that will work for you.

Wedding Photography in Red Hill

As with most weddings, we like to photograph couples close to either their ceremony location or reception venue, in order to minimise the amount of time they are away from their guests.

Fortunately Red Hill is brimming with beautiful scenery and great wedding photography locations so photos can be ticked off the list quickly so everyone can make the most of the hospitality and excellent food at The Epicurean.

Most of the photography locations around Red Hill that we have used previously have been bush settings that have a rustic feel and work really well in photos, but if you have more time and are happy to travel we’re always happy for a quick scoot down the hill for beach photos Flinders, Shoreham or Point Leo.

With that said, we’re all for keeping life simple, so a couple of nearby locations and a chance for you to catch your breath and enjoy a drink or a coffee before continuing with the festivities, is usually the best plan for the day if you’re hoping to keep the wedding vibe nice and relaxed.
